Aligning with the NSW curriculum
Welcome, dedicated science teachers! Discover how Miss G's Classroom seamlessly integrates with the NSW Stage 1 Outcomes and Syllabus, making lesson planning easier and more effective using this Digital Learning Resource.

This website was designed as a Digital Learning Resource to help support Stage 1 student's learning. The main Stage 1 learning Outcome is ST1-SCI-01: measures and describes changes in living things, materials, movement, Earth and the sky (NESA, 2024). This digital learning resource provides students with opportunities to explore a range of weather conditions and recognise features of weather for different seasons influencing everyday life. Students consolidate their understanding by designing their own Presentation using the design app Canva, encouraging creativity while communicating their scientific knowledge.
This resource is included in the unit Planet Earth is Our Home and influenced by the inquiry-based 5E approach (ref), where students observe weather, investigate season patterns and describe how First Nation People use seasonal calendars (NESA, 2024).

NSW Curriculum Outcomes and Syllabus
Learning Outcomes
ST1-SCI-01: measures and describes changes in living things, materials, movement, Earth and the sky (NESA, 2024).
ST1-DAT-01: collects, represents and uses data to identify patterns and relationships (NESA, 2024).
ST1-PQU-01: poses questions based on observations and information to investigate cause and effect (NESA, 2024).
Investigations of changes provide knowledge and understanding (NESA, 2024).
Planet Earth is our home
-
Observe and record daily weather to identify changes and patterns
-
Investigate how seasonal patterns influence the behaviour and appearance of living things
-
Describe the ways in which Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples use seasonal indicators
Other Curriculum areas:
Literacy -
EN1-RECOM-01: comprehends independently read texts that require sustained reading by activating background and word knowledge, connecting and understanding sentences and whole text, and monitoring for meaning (NESA, 2022).
EN1-UARL-01: understands and responds to literature by creating texts using similar structures, intentional language choices and features appropriate to audience and purpose (NESA, 2022).
Mathematics -
MA1-DATA-02: reasons about representations of data to describe and interpret the results (NESA, 2022).
Design Technologies -
AC9TDI2K01: identify and explore digital systems and their components for a purpose (ACARA, 2026).
Cross-Curriculum Priority-
AC9E1LA08: compare how images in different types of texts contribute to meaning (ACARA, 2026).
